Alien Registration and Fingerprint registration

  1. Period of Alien Registraion and persons who need Alien Registration

    - A student who arrived in Republic of Korea should do Alien Registration within 90 days.

    - Freshmen, newly admitted students and students coming back from leave of absence need Alien Registration.
   

  2. Alien Registration for a group
    - Institute of International Education help students of undergraduate or Korean Language Course prepare for Alien Registration. Administration Office of Graduate school help graduate students.
     - Schedule for helping Alien Registration will be noticed to students.

   

  3. Alien Registration for a person
     : If a student lives in a region Cheongju Immigration Office doesn't have jurisdiction over, he/she should visit the Immigration Office which has jurisdiction over the region of her residence.

   

  4. Documents & cost

    1) Application form: You should visit Institute of International Education and fill out the form.

    2) Copy of passport

    3) Visa Grant Notice

    4) Two photos which are the same size for your passport and taken recently.

    5) Document verifying your residence

       - Students living at dormitory: University issues a document

       - Students living off campus: Written contract on rent of residence

       - Students living at the facility another person rents: Written contract on rent of residence + Confirmation of Residence/Accommodation

    6) Certificate of enrollment to Konkuk University

    7) Issuance fee 30,000 Korean Won by cash

    8) Certificate of Admission: It can be replaced by certificate of enrollment

   

  5. Visiting Immigration Office for registration of fingerprints

     - After submission of documents for alien registration, Institute of International Education will notice about when students visit Cheongju Immigration Office. Students coming back from leave of absence don't need registration of fingerprints.

     - Students must bring passports.

  
   
   

  Extension of length of sojourn  in Republic of Korea

  1. Group application for extension of length of sojourn in Korea
      : Undergraduate students can apply at Institute of International Education before the expiration date. Graduate students can do it at Administration Office of Graduate School.

   

  2. Period of group application for extension of length of sojourn in Korea
     : Before the expiration date, Institute of International Education will notify student of it.

   

  3. Peronal application for extension of length of sojourn in Korea
     : If a student lives in a region Cheongju Immigration Office doesn't have jurisdiction over, he/she should visit the Immigration Office which has jurisdiction over the region of her residence.

    7) Transcript (A student whose GPA is under 2.0 should attach statement of reasons.)

    8) Certificate of tuition payment

    9) Documents of verifying financial status(Only for a student whose GPA is under 2.0 or registering for additional semesters.)

       - Certificate of deposit balance of the student's own Korean account (issued within 7 days from final submission)

         ※ The account has tuition for 1 semester and cost of living 4,800,000 Korean Won for 1 year extension, cost of living 2,400,000 Korean Won for 6 months extenstion.

       - Certificate of overseas remittance(Only parents can remit)

       - Family Relation Certificate

       - Certificate of deposit and withdrawal for 12 months

    10) Statements of reasons by professor of student's major, student and Institute of International Education(A student who needs to register for additional semester or fails to achieve a certain level of TOPIK.

   

  5. Undergraduate students can extend length of stay in Republic of Korean to a maximum of 6 years from the admittance. (for master's degree: a maximum of 5 years, for doctoral degree: a maximum of 8 years)

   

  6. If a student apply for extension of length of stay in Republic of Korea after expiration date, a fine is imposed.
